GLBTQ Online High School offers a wide range
of learning opportunities for youth and adults!

Our Unique GLBTQ Studies Course

At the core of our education outreach program is our GLBTQ Studies course available to both youth and teachers, studying separately. This semester-long survey course introduces learners to the language, history, science, politics and personal issues in the glbtq community. While respectfully acknowledging opposing viewpoints, the course takes an unapologetically inclusive and affirming approach.

He travels internationally providing professional development to teachers with an emphasis on project-based learning. Being gay himself, Andrew finds passion accepting and affirming glbtq students every day, and in modeling respect and cooperation with people from diverse backgrounds. Andrew brings exceptional stage presence and humor to his workshops, and specializes in inclusion of glbtq histories in language arts and social studies and using project-based learning to teach anti-bullying skills. He also works with other glbtq teachers regarding how to come out in a school community.
Jamie Nabozny headshot  Jamie Nabozny is passionate about safe schools and standing up to anti-gay bullying. His own dramatic story from middle school and high school is told in the film, "Bullied: A Student, A School, and A Case that Made History" by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Bullied from sixth grade until he finally left school half way through his junior year, Jamie's story includes a beating so bad it required surgery, running away from home, and a suicide attempt. Ultimately, however, his is a story of hope and empowerment, inspiring for students and adults alike. He stood up to the adults and the school who did nothing to prevent it. Says Jamie, "You have to fight back when something isn't right. I was a poor gay kid from northern Wisconsin, and I was able to stand up and say 'harassment is wrong, beating me up and urinating on me is wrong.' And I won. And if I can do that, anyone can do that."
